You’re going on a cross-country trip. Airplane, train, bus, car, or bike?
Train, 100%. Unfortunately most public transport (including trains) is inaccessible for a lot of disabled people, but out of all of them trains are by-far the least stressful and most comfortable.
In 2024 myself and my partner took a bullet train from the south of Spain up to Barcelona, and it was then that I truly fell in love with trains.
After a slightly disastrous start to our journey (the taxi took us to the airport instead of the train station so we missed our train…. deep sigh) we eventually set off, and despite how stressed and hot I was, I was palpably giddy at the prospect of riding my first bullet train.
The ride was fast, smooth, and so much more comfortable than a plane, like wow. Every once in a while my mind would wander to “How would I feel right now if I was on a plane?” and the answer was always “Stiff, in pain and on the verge of a panic attack.”
So yeah, give me a train over any other forms of transport any day of the week.
Although as someone who doesn’t drive, I’m very curious if anyone who does drive would prefer a car over all else.
If this is you, what do you like about it? Is it more comfortable? Less hassle? I’m very curious and would love to hear your thoughts!
